Confused I had some blood test and my doctor says I did not have a flare up but my other problem repetative sympathtic disorder flared up. I have had the RSD for 7 years and it has never done this.
I will tell you what happened I started to get pains on all my joints my ankles ans wrist swelled up and if I sat down for say 15 mins I would get and could hardley walk, I had to use both crutches (I use them as I fell over and tore my ligements 6 months ago and waiting for op) all I wanted to do was sleep in the day but due to the pain I did not sleep much in the night My feet and hands were terrible . When I went and had my blood test the pain had started to go and I could walk . So if I started to get better ( THE blood test was a week after it started) would the test not have shown up anything. I need to understand this. David PS don't know why but it says i joined August 2009 but it was 2007

Sorry David, I can't help with this. You are, of course, aware that we are all different and that we often react fir dufferent reasons.
Not showing in your bloods doesn't necessarily mean you didn't have a flare. It comes down to your doctor and how he applies methodology to detect a flare.

It may interest you to know that despite numerous doctors saying that my bloods showed nothing and a biopsy was clear, I still had cancer. As I said, blood tests don't necessarily tell the true story - they are but one indicator.

Hi David

Do you have sero negative RA? I couldn't swear to this, but I don't think the blood results are as good an indicator if you have SN. The main NRAS web site will tell you all about SN.

Hi David,

I'm no expert and a relative newbie to RA, and find the illness very confusing. Like Bob has said the bloods do not always show up what is going on with us or indicative of the pain we're in. I have SN RA, and my bloods have never really reflected the way I feel when my joints are clearly swollen and when I'm in pain.

Pleased to hear you're feeling better and don't worry about the membership thing, I'm sure it will sort it's self out soon.

Love,

Barbara
